By joining us with a monthly donation, you will become a Médecins Sans Frontières Field Partner and your gifts will help us provide medical care to even more people who might otherwise have access to none.

When The Ebola outbreak began in West Africa in 2014 Médecins Sans Frontières had a fully equipped emergency team on the ground and ready to go within days of confirmation of the outbreak. And when Nepal was devastated by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake, we mobilised teams of surgeons, medics and logisticians to treat patients and reach people in remote areas.

The funding provided by our Field Partners meant we were able to act immediately. And as a Field Partner, you’ll help provide the ongoing funding we need to carry out our long-term medical programs – from treating people for chronic illnesses like HIV and TB, to reducing infant and maternal mortality rates.

Your monthly gifts will give us the flexibility to adapt our response as circumstances change, so we can go where the medical needs are greatest and respond rapidly to emergencies.

“People deserve the same care no matter where they’re from. It’s definitely not an experience where you come back thinking, ‘I’ve done my bit and can go and drink lattes now.’ That sense of responsibility just deepens.”

Meet Brett

Australian nurse Brett Adamson has been working for us for over five years. He recently spoke about why he decided to move into nursing, and what prompted him to work for Médecins Sans Frontières.

“I became a nurse because ultimately I was interested in people. I had been working as a furniture maker. But by my early 20s I had a growing sense of responsibility, and decided to go into nursing. It was a way for me to explore humanity through caring for people."

"My aim was always to work internationally and assist populations in need while exploring life in all its harshness. And as you grow and explore the world, turning statistics into realities and numbers into individuals, you see the reality is far worse than you ever could have imagined."

Brett has now been on several assignments for Médecins Sans Frontières, which have taken him to the frontlines of medical crises in West Africa, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, South Sudan and Lebanon.

Brett Adamson is a field worker from Australia. In 2014, as part of Medecins Sans Frontieres' response to the Ebola epidemic, Brett worked as a field coordinator in Liberia at the largest isolation unit ever constructed to treat Ebola patients.
