Yellow Fever Vaccination

01 Sep 2016

This is one of the largest emergency vaccinations conducted in Africa to stop an outbreak of yellow fever. It started in Angola in January and spread to the DRC, killing over 400 and infecting thousands more. Yellow fever can kill up to 50% of the most severe cases and has no effective treatment; however a safe and effective vaccine can protect people from getting the virus and transmitting it to mosquitoes, therefore stopping the progression of the outbreak. We have just finished vaccinating 710,000 people in 11 days and wanted to say thank you to all the donors and supporters of the campaign.
