Madagascar: Plague intervention

The plague is probably one of the diseases with the highest emotional reaction in the public, conjuring images of widespread death during the middle ages. Madagascar records cases of plague, the majority is bubonic plague, almost every year and is usually equipped to treat it. However, this year, the majority of cases are the more dangerous and transmittable pneumonic plague. People in Madagascar are afraid, universities and schools are closing their doors and people are starting to use masks to avoid infection. The Malagasy authorities have called to international partners for support in helping to tackle this outbreak.
