Why were we there?
- Healthcare exclusion
- Endemic/epidemic disease
- Médecins Sans Frontières was present in the country for more than ten years and thus had a unique opportunity to witness the challenges facing the healthcare system but also felt it had reached the limit of what could be achieved with the project under the given circumstances.
- Latterly, Médecins Sans Frontières supported the paediatric and reproductive health departments of the district hospital in Magdanly, Eastern Turkmenistan.
- Médecins Sans Frontières still sees a big need for medical support in the country and continues to seek openings with the government to support the treatment multi-drug resistant tuberculosis.
