helping Tsunami survivors in aceh : Dr Tira Aswitama Only three days after she graduated as a medical doctor from Jakarta University, 28-year-old Tira Aswitama joined Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Aceh to help survivors after the Tsunami swept across the Indian Ocean in 2004. This was her first experience working for an emergency organisation. Nearly three years have past and the project in Aceh is now closed. Tira has joined MSF's emergency pool in Jakarta, a team on the stand-by to respond to natural disasters and epidemics in this vast country prone to many earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and flooding.
