Mothers feel a lot of guilt knowing that their child may be born with HIV. Effective and timely use of antiretroviral drugs (ARV) can reduce the risk of transmission of HIV, from a mother to her child, by up to 40%. Feeding options are also important, as HIV can also be transmitted through breastfeeding. Dr Julianne Millar discusses the mechanisms by which PMTCT is delivered in the Médecins Sans Frontières Blue House clinic.
