Kinshasa

It is estimated that 1.1 million people are living with HIV/AIDS in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Over 160,000 of those live in the capital, Kinshasa.

At a walk-in treatment centre in Kabinda, Kinshasa, MSF treats over 1,000 people every month with antiretroviral drugs. MSF also provides treatment for opportunistic infections; specialist treatment for children; advice and voluntary testing; nutritional support and psychosocial care for patients. Each month, MSF carries out an average of 3,200 consultations and screens about 300 people who wish to be tested for HIV/AIDS. MSF also works on education and encouraging behavioural changes.
