Photographs from International Women's Day 2017

09 Mar 2017

This week in Sydney, marking International Women's Day, Médecins Sans Frontières Australia held an inspiring public event ‘Shining A Light on Women in Afghanistan'.

We would like to thank our special guest panellists Dr Nouria Salehi OAM Director of the Australian Afghan Development Organisation and Dr Nadera Hayat Burhani former Deputy Minister of Public Health (maternal and child health) of Afghanistan from the Australian Afghan community, along with MSF Australia Women's Health Advisors Dr Claire Fotheringham MSF Medical Advisor – Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Kara Blackburn, MSF Midwife who worked in Afghanistan, for illuminating the efforts to ensure better access to healthcare for women in Afghanistan.

We'd also like to thank our host, esteemed journalist Karen Middleton Chief Political Correspondent at The Saturday Paper, for moderating the event and sharing her experience as a journalist in Afghanistan.

Last, but not least, we'd like to thank everyone who attended the event, having braved the rainy Sydney weather!
